Colin D. Sumrall received a BS in geology from Arizona State University, and MA and PhD degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He became curator of invertebrate paleontology at Cincinnati Museum Center in 1998 and moved to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2002 where he is an associate professor of geology. He has worked extensively on issues related to understanding the morphology, phylogeny, ecology and biogeography of Paleozoic echinoderms. Colin has served the Paleontological Society as a member of the Sepkoski Grant review committee (20 years) and the education committee, technical editor for the Journal of Paleontology (10 years), southeast section chair, and the Special Publications Editor.
