Matthew E. Clapham is an professor in the department of Earth and Planetary Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He received a PhD in paleontology from the University of Southern California. His research areas include the physiological selectivity of extinctions, long-term ecological trends, fossil insects, and cephalopod shape. Matthew served a two-year term (2010 and 2011) as one of the Paleontological Society representatives on the GSA Joint Technical Program Committee. He has also been the Program Coordinator for the past three years, helping to coordinate our society’s sessions at GSA, provide funding for speakers and students to attend conferences, and distributing society funds to support small conferences.
