The American Geosciences Institute (AGI), in collaboration with other science societies including the Paleontological Society, invites members of the geoscience community from across the nation to come to Washington, DC, for the annual Geoscience Congressional Visits Day (Geo-CVD) on September 10-11, 2019.
Geo-CVD is a great opportunity for researchers, students, educators, engineers, and industry professionals to gain exposure to the legislative process and inform federal lawmakers about the value of the geosciences to help inform policy decisions. For more information, please visit https://www.
To this end, the Paleontological Society has approved funds to support travel for two student members, either undergraduate or graduate students, for up to $1,500 each. The closing date for applications is August 9, 2019.
To apply please send to Sandy Carlson, Chair of the Paleontological Society Government Affairs Committee ([email protected]) the following items:
1. A recent curriculum vita and a two-paragraph explanation of why you would like to participate in the AGI Geo-CVD, both submitted by email in a single pdf file labeled “yourlastname_GeoCVD”.
2. An email message from an academic advisor verifying the student status of the applicant.
Each application will be read and ranked by a subcommittee of the Paleontological Society Government Affairs Committee.
All applicants will be notified of the subcommittee’s decisions by August 23, 2019.
